Special Interest is a punk band from New Orleans, Louisiana that consists of Alli Logout on vocals, Maria Elena on guitar, Nathan Cassiani on bass, and Ruth Mascelli on synthesizer and drum machine. An invigorating sonic playground of discordant guitar squalls, disco basslines and thumping beats; the band observe brutal capitalist conditions, cruelty and oppression, and the urgent freedoms and pleasures that we seek within them. The band quickly gained a cult following for their high-intensity live performances, and have performed at festivals such as Pitchfork Music Festival, Substance, and Primavera Sound. Their last album, “Endure”, was released through Rough Trade Records and received critical acclaim including being named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork.
